Delete my data

ChatterMate is an AI customer support platform. Businesses connect their own Facebook Page, Instagram account or WhatsApp number to ChatterMate so it can answer the messages people send them.

That means we may hold data about you for one of two reasons. Find the one that applies to you below.

If you messaged a business

When you message a business that uses ChatterMate, we store your conversation and the name and profile picture the platform shares with us. We hold it on that business's behalf.

To have it deleted, email privacy@chattermate.chat and tell us:

• which platform you used — Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp
• the name of the business or Page you messaged
• roughly when you messaged them

Please include those details. Meta identifies you to us with an ID that is unique to that one business, not your Facebook or Instagram account, so we cannot find your messages from a profile link or username alone.

If your business uses ChatterMate

To disconnect ChatterMate from your Facebook Page or Instagram account, go to Facebook → Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, find ChatterMate and remove it. This revokes our access immediately, and we stop sending and receiving messages for you.

Removing the app does not by itself erase the conversations already stored in your ChatterMate account. To delete those as well, email privacy@chattermate.chat from the address on your account and tell us what you would like removed.

What we delete

• the customer record we hold for you, including your name and profile details
• your message history on that channel
• any support session linked to those messages

We remove this from our live systems within 30 days of confirming the request.

What we may keep, and why

• Data the business holds itself. The business you messaged is responsible for its own records and may keep its own copy. We cannot delete that on their behalf, so please contact them directly as well.
• Aggregate counts. Figures such as the number of conversations handled in a month, which cannot be traced back to you.
• Records we are legally required to retain. Where the law requires it, we keep the minimum for as long as required and no longer.

If we cannot delete something you have asked us to delete, we will tell you what it is and why.
